We get it — minimums can feel confusing at first. So here’s the simple version:

Your discount applies to food and non-alcoholic drinks, but alcohol can count toward your minimum spend.

Example:

If your Offer is $15 off $30 or more, you just need at least $15 in food/non-alcoholic items.

The rest (up to $30+) can include alcohol — then tax and tip are added on top.

Why We Introduced Minimums

Offline was built to support local restaurants — not squeeze them. Over time, we noticed some Members were using Offers like coupons, spending as little as possible just to unlock the discount. That model doesn’t work long-term for restaurants (or for you, when those restaurants decide to stop participating).

By adding minimums, we’re protecting both sides:

  • Restaurants still see real, meaningful business from Offline Members.

  • Members get access to higher-value Offers at better spots — without hurting the local places we all love.

It’s not about spending more — it’s about spending well. The minimum ensures your visit supports the restaurant, so we can keep bringing you incredible, handpicked places to explore.

FAQs

Does alcohol count toward my minimum?

Yes! Alcohol counts toward the minimum spend — but your discount only applies to food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Is the minimum before or after tax and tip?

Before. Your total (food, drinks, alcohol) just needs to hit the minimum before tax and tip are added.

Why do some Offers have higher minimums than others?

Each Offer is based on that restaurant’s average check size, so the minimum feels natural for what guests typically spend there.

Why did you add minimums at all?

Because we’re not Groupon — we’re here to help restaurants thrive. Minimums keep things fair for both sides, which means more great restaurants can join (and stay) on the app.

Do all Offers have minimums?

Nope! Many still don’t — but for higher-value or premium Offers, minimums help balance the bigger savings with what’s sustainable for the restaurant.

The Bottom Line

Minimums help keep Offline sustainable for everyone. You still save, restaurants still win, and the local dining scene stays strong.
